Zumba is a feel-happy workout that combines a motivating fusion of Latin and international music with unique moves and dynamic combinations. It is based on the principle that a workout should be “Fun”.
WHAT IS ZUMBA?
Zumba is a fitness class that involves cardio and latin inspired dance. Originating in the 1990s by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez, Zumba incorporates a variety of styles, including salsa, merengue, mambo, flamenco, and samba, along with elements of hip hop and modern dance, it’s a fun way to make fitness accessible to those who love to dance.

The Aptitude attitude is that dance fitness classes like Zumba should be taken with fun in mind. For that, we have instructors who have learnt fitness dance programs in a variety of styles to make Zumba the thing we know with little twists and turns that make it all the more unique.

Without knowing if you’re in a calorie deficit – the best way to determine if you will lose weight or not, we can’t say a definite yes but, we can say it will help. It’s not just about losing weight with Zumba. You get to tone muscle and give your heart a good workout which based on our more sedentary lifestyle can be a great stress relief as well.
Yes, in short. Zumba gets you moving to music which isn’t that hard and even if you’re out of sync, that won’t last long. Zumba is a fitness dance program designed to be fun which should always be a number 1 priority when it comes to fitness.
Comfortable moisture wicking clothes are best. Bring a towel and some additional clothes, like a fleece top for after exercise to stay warm.
You should always bring a drink to a class. Water is all you really need so a good water bottle is advised like one from here.
Roughly speaking you can burn about 400 calories in a 40 minute Zumba class. There’s a bit more science involved with diet and how much effort you put in but you should talk to the Zumba instructor or a class instructor for more information about calorie burning and weight loss.
Improving coordination to burning fat and building endurance, Zumba can give you all the rush of endorphins anyone could ask for after a good class.
